About Studio Lou

The Woman Behind Studio Lou

Hi, I’m Grace — professional career switcher, lifelong color enthusiast, and accidental jewelry maker.

I first landed in San Francisco lost, confused, and very much in my “what now?” era. After dropping out of college, I did what any self-respecting, slightly panicked young person would do: I grabbed a backpack and wandered through Europe. It was in Italy, watching effortlessly chic women glide by, that something clicked. Their poise, their fashion—it was magnetic. I came home with a suitcase full of inspiration and a new mission: study fashion marketing.

Back in San Francisco, I threw myself into school and worked with small designers, helping them with operations and marketing (and soaking up every stylish detail along the way). But as life does, it threw me a curveball, and I switched paths, leaving the fashion industry behind. Still, that creative itch never left. So I started filling my time with side quests—little projects to keep my hands and heart busy.

Fast forward to my honeymoon (yes, I packed a craft kit—because, of course I did). Beading seemed like the easiest thing to travel with, and before I knew it, I was hooked. When I got back, I started making necklaces and gifting them to friends. It felt like coming home to a part of myself I’d been missing.

As a plus-size woman, accessories have always been my secret weapon—the way I added personality when clothing options felt limited. I’ve spoken through my jewelry for years, mixing colors, textures, and styles that felt so me. Now, I finally get to create those pieces from scratch—and share them with others who want their accessories to do the talking too.

Behind the Name

When I got married, I dropped my middle name, Louise. Then we adopted our dog, Remi, her full name was Remi Lou. As an ode to the versions of ourselves and the legacy of our former middle names, Studio Lou was born.
